Shibuya Gyaru Makeover & Photo Shoot

Shibuya Gyaru Makeover & Photo Shoot
Master the Perfect Gyaru Look!

It was a fashionable liberation movement started by high school girls seeking freedom in a conservative Japanese society – in the 90s, Shibuya, Tokyo, was all about Gyaru. This massive “Gyaru” movement, born among conservative high school girls, continues to live on in spirit, now recognized as a distinct culture and even an art form, appearing in anime, movies, and games, becoming a globally known phenomenon. Gyaru makeup is distinctive and powerful, often dramatically altering uniforms and at times even intimidating to onlookers. There’s the “Kuro Gyaru” (Black Gyaru) with their signature style of tanned skin adorned with countless makeup lines, and the “Shiro Gyaru” (White Gyaru) who prioritize meticulously cared-for fair skin and dramatic, voluminous eyelashes for a gorgeous look. In contrast to these two aggressive appearances, the “Heisei Gyaru” presented a demure style that subtly hid their intensity and strength. Based on these three types, why not transform into a Gyaru yourself and stroll through the streets of Shibuya? Through Crazy Escape, experience your usual city from a crazy, fresh perspective!

Key Points of the Experience

  • Gyaru’s essence lies in eye makeup. A former Gyaru professional will apply makeup based on the styles of Kuro Gyaru, Shiro Gyaru, and Heisei Gyaru. Please come with an image of your desired Gyaru style! Wig rentals are also available.
  • Leave your Gyaru outfit to us! If you bring your own shirt, we’ll coordinate other items to complete your Gyaru style.
  • A professional photographer will capture your photos in iconic Gyaru styles, or guide you to a Purikura (Japanese photo booth) session. For the professional photoshoot, in addition to the digital data, we will also provide a ZINE containing your photo data!
